Why is microfiber cheap?

There are several reasons why microfiber is often cheap.

One of the main reasons is the source of its raw materials. Microfiber is made from synthetic materials that are usually derived from petrochemicals. These raw materials are relatively abundant and can be produced on a large scale. For example, compared to natural materials like silk which comes from silkworms and is limited in supply and requires a lot of labor to produce, the chemicals used to make microfiber can be manufactured in factories in large quantities with less complex production processes.

The manufacturing process of microfiber itself can also contribute to its low cost. Many of the techniques used to make microfiber are highly automated. Machines can spin the fine fibers and weave them into fabric quickly and efficiently. This reduces the need for a lot of manual labor, which in turn cuts down on production costs. For instance, in a factory that produces microfiber towels, the automated looms can churn out a large number of towels in a short time without requiring a huge workforce.

Another factor is the competition in the market. There are many manufacturers producing microfiber products. With so many companies vying for customers, they tend to keep the prices low to attract more buyers. They can do this because they are able to achieve economies of scale by producing large volumes of microfiber fabric and then turning it into various products. As a result, consumers can find microfiber items like cleaning cloths or clothing at relatively affordable prices compared to some other materials with similar functions.

In addition, microfiber doesn’t usually require as much processing or finishing as some other high-end fabrics. It can be made ready for use in a relatively straightforward manner, which also helps to keep its cost down. For example, it might not need elaborate dyeing or special treatments that would add to the overall expense of production. So all these aspects combined make microfiber an inexpensive option in the market.
